The aim of this study is to provide a French version of the gender specific justification scale (EJSAG) validated with a population of adolescents and adults. A total of 662 participants took part in three studies intended to validate EJSAG. In Studies 1 and 2, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses produced an 8-item unifactorial scale. In Study 3, the convergent/discriminant validity test for EJSAG was satisfactory. Moreover, as in previous research, results highlighted significant mean differences between participants as a function of their gender: male participants’ mean scores on EJSAG were higher than those of female participants. Finally, Cronbach’s alpha indicated good internal reliability across all samples. EJSAG is likely to contribute to a better understanding of the mechanisms underlying the perpetuation of gender inequalities among adolescents and adults, and to facilitate the study of the justification of the gender system from a developmental perspective.
