The main goal of this synthetic article is to evaluate age-related episodic memory deficit in terms of strategic behavior impairment. We first consider strategic behavior impairment as an age-related limitation of the capacity to initiate control processes. Secondly, we adopt a metamnesic perspective to account for age-related differences in regulation processes. We conclude by taking a neuropsychological approach to episodic memory deficit, suggesting that age-related prefrontal disorders are associated with a decrease in the cognitive resources necessary for strategic processes in memory.
